Let's talk about thetallest tree in the world, a giant sequoia called Hyperion, which reaches 115,55 meters in height. Behind it has ben 2500 years old and was discovered in 2006 by naturalists Chris Atkins and Michael Taylor in this park located along the coast ofPacific Ocean.

But be careful here we are talking about height and not of greatness, in fact the tree bigger in terms of volume is another sequoia, the General Sherman which grows in California's Sequoia National Park, 83,8 meters high and a base diameter of 11,10 meters.

Prior to the Hyperion, the height record belonged to the sequoia Helios 114,30 meters high also in the Redwood park, so named because of the reddish color of the trunks of the trees it houses.

Redwoods are typically trees tallest and largest in the world and easily reach 80 meters in height, but exceeding 115 meters is truly a record. For this reason, when we are faced with so much immensity, we try to preserve them as much as possible.

Until 40 years ago there were hundreds of trees similar in size to the Hyperion but over time, nearly 90% of the redwoods have been cut down for timber. It is therefore not surprising that the park guardians want to keep the exact location hidden, a natural wonder cannot and must not be damaged.
