MakaPads pads are not only more effective than conventional products, they are part of a new employment and sustenance opportunity for women. women living in Developing countries.

MakaPads pads are made with papyrus fibers and recycled paper. The materials from which they are made guarantee a greater absorbency compared to classic products dedicated to women for the cycle. Each sanitary pad can be worn for up to 8-10 hours.

Le papyrus fibers they are dried and reduced to powder. They are then subjected to a special process that allows you to create a dense compound, together with paper and water. The material obtained is left to dry in the sun and then pressed. From it the inserts are cut and obtained that will form the padding of the sanitary pads.

The pads are packaged in packs of three and exposed to an ultra-violet ray treatment to eliminate germs and bacteria. They do not contain chemical additives and are formed only by natural raw materials. The products turn out almost 100% biodegradable and do not cause any kind of intolerance.

The production of MakaPads pads is done almost entirely by hand. The processes necessary for their realization require very little electricity, which can be obtained thanks to solar panels. THE'environmental impact for their realization is therefore minimum.

The project involves women living in the west ofUganda, where the income of the population is less than 1 euro per capita per day. A pack of conventional sanitary pads costs at least twice as much. It is therefore a luxury that very few women can afford. The absence of products to use during the cycle can expose women to serious health risks.

In addition, most of them have great difficulty attending school or work during the most complicated days of the month. The production of sanitary pads made of natural and local materials will be able to guarantee African women a real improvement of quality of life, as well as offering new ones employment opportunities.
