His beautiful mane could become a trophy to hang in the living room, yet Mufasa is a very rare white lion. On the planet they remained in 300, but only thirteen are free in their natural habitat, the others are distributed among parks, zoos or sanctuaries.

The white lion had been confiscated in 2015 by the police to a Pretoria family who illegally kept him as a pet. Mufasa was still captured as a puppy together with Suraya, unable to reproduce, given the vasectomy, is considered a 'useless animal'.

Yet, after being placed in the Wild for Life Rehabilitation Center in Rustenburg in South Africa, the hope seemed to be that of seeing him free in the sanctuary. Sanwild, given the impossibility of releasing it in nature.

Unfortunately, things are not going this way because in fact the young white lion belongs to the National Conservation department of the South African environment ministry, which not only has not authorized the transfer to the sanctuary, but would like to auction it to raise funds.

From here the protests of animal rights activists and the Wild for Life Rehabilitation Center who launched a petition collecting almost 350 signatures to save Mufasa and Suraya.

If the voices were not heard, the lion would end up in the so-called 'canned hunting' net, where caged animals often sedated, are hunted and then exhibited as trophies.

The hope is that this won't happen if you want to save Mufasa:
