The gesture was immediately denounced by Nadia Zurlo, manager of Equidae Lav, whose goal is to free horses and other equidae from equine and sporting exploitation, which for years has been committed to putting an end to tourist transport with horses.
Nadia, on facebook, wrote:
“A small pony forced to tow an even smaller homunculus + daughter. The blessed & Boeotian smile, for an action that hurts even more a few days after the death of the horse in Caserta. ????? "
Speaking of Caserta, after the accident that caused the death of a horse on 12 August, the Management decided to permanently stop the horse-drawn transport.
A choice that is part of the new direction undertaken by the Royal Palace, which intends to follow an eco-sustainable and respectful path not only for the environment and artistic heritage but also for animals, so that their rights are respected. And such things no longer happen!
That of tourist transport with horses, and elsewhere in the world also with elephants and camels, it is unfortunately a practice so widespread that it is perceived as "normal".
But this is full-fledged exploitation because these animals are often forced into grueling shifts in order to satisfy the demands of the many tourists who want to take a walk. And the accidents that see them as protagonists are far from rare, just as happened in Caserta in recent days.
There is no need to continue to feed a market which, instead of enhancing animals, in this specific case horses, only intends to exploit them.
