Juboraj: farewell to the skeletal lion of the Cominlla zoo

Juboraj did not make it, the 18-year-old lion who until the end of his days continued to be an attraction for the hundreds of visitors to the Cominlla Zoo in Bangladesh. Clearly suffering and skeletal he has died in these days, after a life of agony.

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

He did not make it Juboraj, the 18-year-old lion who until the end of his days continued to be an attraction for hundreds of visitors to the Cominlla Zoo in Bangladesh. Clearly suffering and skeletal he has died in these days, after a life of agony.

The video and the images showing him exhausted had gone around the world, a petition was also launched so that poor Juboraj could have a dignified death, away from the gaze and the lenses of cameras.

The strength of public opinion had stirred up something, this demonstrating that peaceful petitions and protests on social media are really useful. Unfortunately, the signatures failed to save the lion, but to move him from that cage into the spotlight yes.

According to the medical team, Juboraj died of age-related health problems and obviously from the zoo they confirm without making any reference to the life conducted inside the structure.

On November 21st we too had published the story of this lion, a few days after the protests the competent authorities had visited the zoo saying that clearly there was a need to renovate the structure to ensure greater welfare for the animals.

In our opinion, the only way to go is that of the closure. Currently inside there are eight monkeys and three deer, animals that could be moved to recovery and species conservation facilities.

In fact, experts still show skepticism about being able to be released in nature, especially because those born in captivity can hardly survive and get food, even if there have been positive cases in this sense.

And unfortunately this is the situation at zoos:

      • THE SHOCKING IMAGES OF ANIMALS DRUGGED AT THE ZOO TO MAKE A SELFIE WITH THE VISITORS (PETITION)
      • THE STRIKING VIDEO SHOWING THE POLAR BEARS SCREWED BY THE HEAT IN THE FASANO ZOO
      • THE INDONESIAN ZOO OF HORRORS: ANIMALS ARE DYING OF HUNGER (PETITION)

And this should happen in the short term to avoid other harrowing cases such as that of Juboraj who, according to experts, would have died of health problems related to old age, but we cannot help but wonder if free in his natural habitat, he would have had the same fate. In the last period the lion had tried to stand up, but reduced to skin and bones he no longer frightened even a cat who was behind him.

    Farewell, King of the Forest.
