Juan Carrito sighted in Pescocostanzo, the indications of the Municipality to follow

The Marsican bear Juan Carrito is back in the inhabited centers, this time he wanders around Pescocostanzo where he has been spotted repeatedly. The Municipality has provided a series of recommendations and explained which behaviors to implement for the good of all and of the bear itself

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

It seems that the month of forced confinement spent by Juan Carrito in the wildlife area of Palena did not give the desired results because the very popular and "sociable" Marsican bear is returned to his old habits, getting closer to the human being and walking among the mountain centers. For a few days Juan Carrito has been seen by the residents of Pescocostanzo wandering through the streets of the village and visiting the Madonnina del Convento, as shown by the surveillance cameras that film him undisturbed in the night.

The risks related to this behavior, which is absolutely not part of the nature of a bear, are many both for the residents and for Juan Carrito who should on the contrary live far from the human presence, but it seems that this does not belong to him.

For this reason the Municipality of Pescocostanzo is monitoring the movements of the bear, together with the Maiella Park, and invites all citizens to follow a series of behaviors according to the indications provided by the experts. These provide:

    • shelter every species of farmed animal in the stable at night
    • expose the tubs for MSW collection in the morning
    • do not chase the bear and do not photograph it to avoid its possible unpredictable reactions

Adhering to the rules, as the Municipality specifies, is the first form of respect for the bear and towards the next. Attending the paths and other natural environments does not involve any danger unless there is close contact with the bear.

We hope that Juan Carrito will soon understand that his natural habitat is not among the shops, between the platforms of the stations or between the inhabited streets.
