Another episode of unprecedented violence against our animal friends. This time to have had the worst is Jaco, a seven-year-old Husky who lived in San Pietro Vernotico in Brindisi and kept company with an elderly woman alone.
His only fault? That of barking, like dogs do. Jaco was on the balcony on the day as well he was set on fire, that is the night between 1 and 2 November last. According to an initial reconstruction, someone would have thrown some burning rags on the balcony when the owner was absent, the dog was thus trapped in a fire but had resisted until the arrival of the owner's son and then the firefighters.
All this had given hope that Jaco was strong enough to continue to fight, but unfortunately after more than ten days of suffering he died in a veterinary clinic in Bari where they were trying to treat his severe burns. While he was undergoing a burn cleanup, his fiber gave out.
An episode of unprecedented violence that shows once again the gratuitous malice towards our animal friends and unfortunately it happens more and more often. Whoever condemns another living being to death cannot have justifications.
The carabinieri are at work but currently there is no suspect, while the animal welfare associations have announced their intention to organize one torchlight procession in memory of Jaco.
