While the hypothesis of a lockdown for the Christmas period is becoming more and more concrete, in Piedmont hunters can continue undisturbed to kill wild boars, roe deer and many other animals, even outside their own municipality of residence. To announce it last December 9, when the Piemonte it was still the orange zone, it was the Region itself through a note sent to the prefectures, provinces and wildlife areas.

It is possible to hunt because wildlife containment is set up as "State of necessity, in order to limit damage to crops, as well as mitigate the potential danger to public safety and to achieve hunting equilibrium."

If no further communications arrive, it will also be possible to hunt on Boxing Day, not Christmas and New Year's days only because they will fall on a Friday which, together with Tuesday, is a day of "hunting silence".

The note from the Piedmont Region on the performance of the hunting activity

To hunt, even when leaving your municipality of residence, just wear a mask and maintain social distancing. This is the note from the Regional Council Direction P. 39425 of 09.12.2020:

In addition to the clarifications concerning the permitted activities published by the Ministry of the Interior and the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, the following is communicated:

without prejudice to the performance of wildlife control and containment operations, it is considered as a "state of necessity", in order to limit damage to crops as well as mitigate the potential danger to public safety and to achieve the hunting balance of fauna, the performance of '' hunting activities outside the municipality of residence / home and inside:

of the Hunting Territorial Area or Alpine District of hunting residence (ATC or CA where the hunting card was collected);

of the hunting farm or hunting farm to which it belongs

for the following species: wild boar, roe deer, red deer, hooded crow, hooded crow, magpie, fox and minilepre.

The above activities must be carried out in strict compliance with Covid 19 prevention measures (keep a safe distance and wear a mask) "

Free hunting in Piedmont, a choice that leads to discussion

The decision of the Piedmont Region to allow hunting as if it were among the priorities at the moment has aroused various reactions and not a few controversies. On the favorable front, Coldiretti took sides, which after entering Piedmont in the orange zone, had asked for the possibility of hunting beyond the borders of their own municipality of residence:

Several politicians, however, have harshly commented on the choice of the Piedmont Region. Among these, Mauro Salizzoni Pd Vice-President of the Regional Council, who expressed his disappointment on his Facebook profile:
