In China, the crazy fashion of painting dogs: the case of tiger cubs (PHOTO)

In China, puppies painted by tiger cubs destined for sale on the street have been sighted. The paint is, of course, toxic, and seriously endangers the lives of small animals

But how can you paint the hair of a dog with toxic paint? And yet… it happens (still) in China, where gods would have been sighted puppies painted by tigers intended for street sale. A bit like when the news came out that, again in China, chow chows were colored to make them look like pandas.

If they were soft toys, they might look cute too. But unfortunately this is not the case and the story has a rather sinister side, because the paint used to transform a stray puppy into a sweet sweet dog to be adopted is nothing more than a bunch of toxic substances (indeed, to buy around 41 dollars) that it could make him sick or even lead to death.

A trend that already came to light in 2010, when, on the occasion of the year of the tiger, some nefarious Chinese dog traders began to paint the puppies turning them into a kind of little tigers.

Today, after five years, the tiger cubs would again be seen and photographed in the Yongchuan district of Chongqing city in south-central China.

An unfortunate habit? Of course yes! Babies are usually colored with some spray paint, which is toxic if swallowed. Since many of the puppies are really small, they can also absorb toxins directly through the skin. Others may instead ingest the chemicals by simply licking their own fur. If puppies absorb or ingest toxic levels of paint, they can experience lethargy, runny nose, loss of appetite, and even death within no more than a couple of days.

The beauty is that, aware of the damage done, the sellers of these innocent puppies move frequently to avoid being discovered by journalists and the police.

    - veterinary experts and some animal advocacy groups, like PETA, have denounced this pictorial practice, denouncing the health risks deriving from the quantity and quality of the dyes used.

Sometimes stupidity has no limits. We hope that these are only isolated cases and that everyone understands how useless and immoral it is to treat animals like trinkets.
