To discover the vehicle were the volunteers of the Love Home Animal Rescue Center, who published the video of the boxes on social networks to show the horror of this increasingly widespread phenomenon. The volunteers stayed with the puppies all night, feeding them and offering them drinks, while they submitted them to health checks.

They stated that many of the puppies had died or were starving as vendors stop providing them with water and food one day before departure to limit their droppings.

One of the boxes found in the truck was only 30cm wide and contained 3 immobile puppies.

The courier company involved, ZTO, said it had suspended the delivery security manager in Sichuan Province, confirming that it has broken China's postal regulations.

Apparently many mystery box customers complain that they have received dirty and sick animals. Thankfully, since the Love Home Animal Rescue Center revealed the scandal, many e-commerce stores have removed the mystery boxes. But there are also those who have tried to disguise them with other names.
