He is about to end up run over, his mother saves himUn horse tripped while pulling a carriage and, once on the ground, the driver began to insult and viciously beat the animal. It happened in Melbourne, Australia, under the eyes of numerous bewildered spectators.
The inhumane gesture of the horse's owner, Wayne, was filmed by those present and posted on Facebook by Krista Knight, a veterinary nurse who was on site.
After that the horse fell, the driver of the carriage began to railing and kicking the animal on the ground, even lashing out at the people who begged him to stop.
The horse, still tied to the carriage, was unable to move and was forced to suffer the man's fury helplessly.
Dean Crichton, the owner of the horse and the company that organizes carriage tours of the city for tourists, acknowledged that the driver should not have insulted and beat the horse, but he justified the behavior of man.
Crichton, worried about the future of his business after the video was released, stated that the driver of the carriage he did not intend to harm the animal but only to encourage him to get up: he also assured that the man, who has worked for him for 30 years, loves horses and lost his temper only because the situation was very stressful, due to the numerous people yelling at him.
The man also added that the vet, Knight, would have done better to help get the horse up, rather than shooting the scene with the smartphone.
According to Crichton, the horse was not injured and went back to work the following day.
Dr Knight instead reported that the horse was bleeding from the mouth and that as soon as he got up he was forced to continue the race without the driver checking his health conditions and without being able to drink even a drop of water before leaving.
Knight stressed the need for greater protection for animals exploited in organized tours for tourists, to avoid this type of abuse.
