Rome: a man believed he had found a kitten and had adopted her, but in reality it was a wild cat
He is about to end up run over, his mother saves himWhat happened to a citizen of Rome is unbelievable since it does not happen every day to come across some wild species and the encounter between man and these is so rare that many confuse them with domestic animals as in this case. A man had in fact seen what appeared to be in effect an abandoned kitten or born on the street and had decided to welcome her to her home and take care of the baby, but something strange had struck him. A truly unusual behavior of the feline that prompted man to contact the LIPU Wildlife Rescue Center in Rome.
What the man had brought home it was not an ordinary kitten, but a specimen of wild cat. The wild cat Felis silvestris is a very difficult feline to meet, especially in overcrowded cities like our capital, as it tends to refuse human contact, taking refuge in the forests or green areas of the Mediterranean scrub, even if its habitat has been distorted by the man as well as its populations hunted for their thick fur. The coat is in fact one of the elements that distinguishes it from the common cat Felis catus.
