GUNRID, the new Ikea curtain that purifies the air of the house by simulating photosynthesis

Thanks to a mineral-based surface treatment, a new curtain will reduce household pollutants.

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

The Swedish giant proposes a new way to reduce air pollution inside homes thanks to a curtain that reproduces the process of photosynthesis

It will be called Gunrid and will be able to purify the air: thanks to a mineral-based surface treatment, in fact, a new curtain will reduce harmful household pollutants when it comes into contact with light. An economical and space-saving air purification solution.

It is the new green idea of Ikea which, after the low cost photovoltaic panels, is committed this time to reduce actively allowing indoor air pollutants to allow people to purify the air in their homes.

"In addition to enabling people to breathe better air at home, we hope that GUNRID will raise people's awareness of indoor air pollution, inspiring behavioral changes that help create a world of clean air," says Lena Pripp-Kovac, Head of sustainability at Inter IKEA Group. "

How the indoor anti-pollution curtain will work

The curtain surface will be treated with a photocatalytic mineral capable of disintegrating atmospheric pollution if in contact with light, thus allowing the air to be purified. The technology behind the Gunrid works in a similar way to the photosynthesis: the natural process that plants and some other organisms use to transform carbon dioxide and water into food, using light.

Developed in recent years in collaboration with universities in Europe and Asia, this authentic purifying technology will activate with both natural and artificial light.

A nice revolution if you consider that thereindoor pollution indoors it is still too underestimated, despite being a serious threat to human health. In fact, with little air exchange, harmful substances for the organism can be concentrated and thus trigger a series of pathologies.

The GUNRID air purifying tent is just a prototype for now and will be available in IKEA stores next year.

Pending its commercialization, we can always use the "original", placing houseplants in the house capable of purifying the air, as has been repeatedly demonstrated by science and NASA itself.
