Raja had arrived at the zoo in 2009 after being harassed by the circus: the tiger had been trained to entertain spectators and after living in a cage on concrete, it was no longer needed for shows. Not being able to be reinserted in nature, she was hosted at the Pistoia zoo. A life, therefore, far from its natural habitat, always remembering that tigers are classified as endangered by the IUCN.

Her story was about recovery from a circus which was followed by rehabilitation at the Park and the conquest of spaces that she had never known. It was also a great love story with his Kamala: inseparable we often found them asleep together or enjoying long baths on warm afternoons. Today is a day of silence in the Park, there is one less roar ".
A story that leaves a bad taste in our mouth because it shows once again everything that animals are forced to live. In this case, Raja had a long life, but she never knew the beauty of freedom: the zoo saved her it's true, but if she had never made it to the circus, maybe the story would have been written differently. .
