Farewell to Jazz, la baby giraffe protagonist of a beautiful story of friendship with the dog Hunter. She had been abandoned by her newborn mother and saved by the Rhino Orphanage in South Africa, but sadly she died suddenly of a brain hemorrhage.

This strange couple of friends had made us smile: Jazz a little giraffe and the dog Hunter who lives in the non-profit rhino shelter, who took care of her to the last breath. The images taken in the structure always showed them together, one the support of the other. Perhaps it was because Hunter understood that Jazz wouldn't live long.

“Our team is heartbroken. The last two days before we lost her, Jazz started to feel unstable on her lap and very confused, almost as if she wasn't understanding everything that was going on around her. She suddenly she collapsed and we saw the blood starting to fill her eyes, ”the Rhino Orphanage volunteers write on Facebook.

Our Team is heartbroken as we announce that our beautiful, brave boy, Jazz the giraffe, passed away. The last 2 days…

And now Hunter awaits the return of his giraffe friend and can't rest. It all started three weeks ago when a farmer from Limpopo he had seen a baby giraffe wandering alone. She had watched her for a long time, but then he realized that there was no trace of her mother. Perhaps, according to the law of survival, the giraffe mother had understood that there was something wrong with that puppy.

Transported to the Rhino Orphanage, the animal rescue center dedicated to the care of injured and orphaned animals, the giraffe was renamed Jazz. Right there, between one infusion and another, the long-necked animal had also found a friend and shared the days with him. They ate nearby, slept together, played and searched for each other.

“Jazz's heart rate dropped and he showed early neurological problems. His friend Hunter knew something was wrong because suddenly he stood by the giraffe's side without leaving. Jazz took his last breath with Hunter and all his human moms by his side, ”writes the shelter again.

All the vets' efforts were in vain, they probably say he had a genetic defect and his mother understood it.

“So we finally know that Jazz didn't have an ugly giraffe mother who left him, she just knew it. As demonstrated so many times before, the mother knows it ”, they still say.

Jazz, had an accumulation of blood in his eyes coupled with a serious brain problem linked, perhaps, to a genetic problem or an underdeveloped valve system that did not allow him to regulate his blood pressure.

“You have taught us a lot in the last three weeks and we will remember you fondly,” say the members of the facility.

Jazz and Hunter taught us that there are no differences in bonds and feelings, they who have never left until the end. Happy rainbow bridge to this gorgeous baby giraffe.
