What used to be the spaces of the Tara Na Ri pub, closed due to the pandemic, are now home to Ireland's first Wildlife Hospital.

For about a year now, pubs around the world have faced restrictions to thwart the spread of covid-19, but there is one in Navan, an Irish town in Meath, which has found a creative and truly adorable way to reopen its. doors: Tara Na Ri pub has been converted into Ireland's first wildlife hospital.

The beers have remained behind, now the Wildlife Hospital serves other types of drinks and its most loyal customers are foxes and swans. In this ex-pub they take care of animals who are orphans, those who are injured, abandoned or those who simply need a cuddle.

“We were very used to only one way of life. When it was taken away from us we were left with a vacuum. It took some time to fill it in a way we never thought was possible, ”confesses James McCarthy, whose family has run the Irish pub for more than a decade.

In rural Ireland, pubs occupy a central place in social life, important events are celebrated here and solidarity is created between neighbors, which is why the closure of Tara Na Ri had shaken the local community. When the citizens of Navan learned of the opening of the veterinary hospital they received the news with open arms, donating their time to renovate the spaces and receiving the new patients.

More great work getting done this week.We just can't thank the fantastic volunteers enough for working so hard to make the hospital look great. The positive energy here is out of this world!
