It happened in Quakertown, a town in Pennsylvania, the devastating fire generated by a short of the lights used to adorn the King family Christmas tree.
A tradition that on the night of December 25 turned into an unprecedented tragedy that caused the destruction of the whole house, but even worse, the death of two children and of the father.
The family had gone to sleep forgetting to turn off the lights of the tree, without being able to imagine that this gesture could have turned into a disgrace. The intervention of the firefighters who, on their way to the scene, found the body of Erik King, 41, and two of his children who were lying lifeless on the second floor, was of no use.

In this disaster the mother and the eldest son survived who managed to escape and call the police, who promptly arrived on the spot. The injuries and burns reported by the two are however minor so much so that the two components have already been discharged from Lehigh Valley Hospital, where they had been taken.
The fire also resulted in the death of the two dogs of the King family who, stuck in the flames, could not find an escape route.
The front door and the window overlooking the entrance were completely blocked and the fire was advancing throughout the house at that moment. It was really difficult for the firefighters to enter the building safely. It took some time
