How to reproduce lettuce from scraps

  1. First of all, remove the outermost and largest leaves from your lettuce head. Then, using a knife, remove the lower part of the lettuce head by making a clean cut about 3 centimeters away from the bottom.
  2. You will have thus obtained the base of your head of lettuce. Set the leaves aside to prepare a good salad and get ready to get the new fresh lettuce right from the final part of the head, without having to resort to sowing.
  3. At this point you just have to get yourself a bowl, a glass or one bowl that is able to fully contain the base of the lettuce.
  4. Pour the necessary amount of water into the container to allow the bottom of the head to remain immersed for about one centimeter.
  5. Put the base of the head of lettuce in the bowl with the water, which you would normally have considered a waste part.
  6. Place the container near a window, inside the house. You will then be exposed to light but not to direct sunlight.
  7. Label the glass or bowl with the date of the start of the "experiment" and remember to change the water once a day.
