  • funding for wildlife conservation projects both in the UK and overseas

Farm animals

The action plan launched by Great Britain also pays particular attention to the conditions of farmed animals through the following measures: 


  • stop exporting live animals for slaughter
  • new rules to improve the conditions of animals during transport
  • increased police powers to protect farm animals from dangerous or out of control dogs
  • more checks on cage farms 
  • incentives for farmers committed to respecting the rights of their animals 

Protection of animals abroad

As anticipated, the UK government's efforts to support animal rights will not be limited to national territory alone. The action plan provides, in fact, a series of new rules that aim to improve animal welfare also abroad, namely: 


  • ban on the import of hunting trophies of endangered animals
  • prohibition of the sale of ivory 
  • stop importing and exporting shark fins to protect the species
  • ban on the sale of foie gras
  • ban on advertising practices such as trophy hunting and elephant rides abroad
