Derby was born with a congenital malformation which resulted in its front legs being underdeveloped, severely impairing its ability to move. Until now it could only move on soft surfaces, while hard ones, such as sidewalks, cause severe abrasions. Luckily met Tara Anderson.

The woman, who had learned of her story through the association Peace and Paws, is an employee of 3D Systems e he knew that 3D printing would offer the dog a new life. Using 3D technology, in fact, it would have been possible to quickly design and produce customized prostheses for the Derby morphology.

So he enlisted the help of Derrick Campana, an animal prosthetic expert, and gathered some of his colleagues to work on the creation of perfect prostheses. The team used 3D scanners, as well as 'highly sophisticated' 3D modeling software. And the new life has come.

As soon as you put on the new "legs", Derby has started running and today he is a happy dog again.
