The people of the web could only call it Casper, the "ghost" octopus discovered on the seabed of the archipelago of the Hawaiian Islands and which is currently attracting the attention of the flower of ocean researchers.

All white that looks like a hologram or a little character just out of a cartoon, the baby octopus was filmed there, at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, in all its whiteness while floating undisturbed.

The discovery was made last February 27 around 4 thousand meters deep thanks to the remote controlled vehicle of the Okeanos Explorer, from NOAA (la National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration americana).

The octopus would belong to an unknown species, so much so that at NOAA, with its manager Michael Vecchione, there is talk of a "revolutionary discovery" because there is a very high probability that it is a new species, also because at that depth the presence of octopuses had never been verified. Even the tentacles are different from those of the more known species and arranged on a single row and, in addition, "Casper" does not seem to have a very developed muscular apparatus.

In the video posted by NOAA, the researchers document that during the expedition's first dive to explore the northeast side of Necker Island, the remotely operated Deep Discoverer vehicle encountered this never-before-seen octopus:

American scholars are convinced that this is a species never described before and are ready for further investigations.
