The hunt was reopened yesterday, January 2 and will continue until March 14: every Monday, Thursday and Saturday, hunters will be able to shoot 872 roe deer and 177 fallow deer, one real massacre of over 1000 specimens, including nearly 400 puppies of just a few months.
And it does not end here: the Enpa, the National Animal Protection Authority, is betting that the Liguria Region will extend for the entire month of January also wild boar hunting, since also this year the number of animals that can be slaughtered has not been reached, proof of the fact that there are far fewer ungulates in the area than you would like to believe.
“In fact, this has always been the case, according to a proven and convenient pro-hunting mechanism: hunters are made censuses on limited portions of the territory and estimated the presumed, but very presumed, numbers of the total over the entire territory; a percentage to be killed is established and the number of annual "dying" is obtained. This value is NEVER reached in the first part of the hunting season and therefore the hunt is extended to the month of January: everyone is happy, politicians, administrators, hunters and farmers, and the system is also valid more or less for fallow deer and roe deer ", explains the 'Enpa Savona on Facebook.
According to the Enpa, the citizens believe that the number of wild boars is particularly high since these animals often reach inhabited centers. THE boars, in fact, accustomed to the presence of hunters in their habitat, they are not afraid of man and they approach homes and crops.
Over the years, hunters have established a relationship with wild boars, offering them food to ensure that the animals do not leave the hunting grounds. Furthermore, it was precisely man who introduced wild boar, fallow deer and roe deer in our woods, so you can hunt them.
Now we complain about the fact that these animals are in supernumerary, when according to the ENPA it is the hunters themselves who do not want to contain the populations:
“Hunting, which cannot (or does not want to) contain the population, is therefore the cause and not the solution of the supernumerary of animals; a problem that in many countries of the world is faced with promising studies but opposed everywhere by the hunting world and their political friends, of the administration of species-specific sterilants which, solved some application problems, are the real solution of the problem, for permanent protection of the environmental and crop balance ”, concludes the association.
Enpa invites citizens to a send an email civil and free of insults to the presidency of the Liguria Region to protest and ask for alternative solutions killing, to contain the presumed surplus of roe deer, fallow deer and wild boar.
