Born a baby killer whale off the coast of Washington State. This was announced by the Center For Whale Research. It hadn't happened since January 2019.
Good news for killer whales, an endangered species: a few weeks ago a baby killer whale was born off the coast of Washington State. To announce it on Center For Whale Research, enthusiastic about this newcomer, who according to experts would have about 1 month and a half. Unfortunately the most recent birth dates back to the beginning of 2019, therefore the arrival of a new specimen is a sign of hope for the marine mammal species, which is increasingly threatened by numerous threats, in particular by pollution.
The sex of the baby orca, renamed L125, has not yet been confirmed, but fortunately the baby seems to be in excellent health.
"The orca is well formed and appears to be a perfectly normal puppy," said the Center for Whale Research, which posted an exciting snapshot of the baby in the company of its mother in the Strait of Haro on Facebook:

L125 is the fourth child of the orca called L86. However, as experts explain, only one of the other three children survived. The orca born in 2009, renamed L112 died following a blunt trauma during military exercises in 2012, while the other was born in 2014 and died in the same year.
With the newcomer, the total population of the so-called "Southern killer whales" (which live off the coast of Oregon, Northern California, Washington and Vancouver Island) has risen to 75. We wish the L125 cub a long life and hope that the killer whale community can continue to grow.
