Animal welfare associations intervened in defense of the poor bear. On France TV, Sabine Matraire, vice president of the environmental protection association Férus, says she is disgusted.
“I'm not surprised that it happened in Ariège. I think many of us have been expecting this for years. We have warned the state services, which are increasingly relaxed, which are always lenient with those who mistreat bears. This death is the consequence of the laxity of the state in this department ”, he explains, launching very specific accusations despite, as we said, the state has announced that it will present a complaint.
“The reaction of the state must be clear and firm. We must really condemn, but we must also make amends. The priority must be to replace this bear, to firmly demonstrate the determination of the French state, to restore a bear population in the Pyrenees ”, he concludes.

Bears are mistreated animals in many countries and it is not the first time that we have talked about scenes like these. Often, due to the loss of natural habitat, they go to urban centers in search of food and there they then die.
“It's poaching, it's a protected species. This crime is severely punished by law. We cannot allow people to impose their point of view by violence. They must understand that there is no way out of this violent and illegal way of acting ”, explains the president of the French environmental association Pays de l'Ours-Adet, Alain Reynes.
The culprit has not yet been identified, but investigations are underway: whoever does not respect the protection of nature and the survival of the species in the Pyrenees, will have to pay.
