They are not tourist attractions, they are not games or amusing pastimes, but only splendid and defenseless creatures, moreover sociable and intelligent, who do not deserve such a great wickedness.
The new images, believed to have been taken at Phuket, show elephants with horrible wounds on the head and body and dripping blood, as they are ridden by men holding sharp metal rods.
The shocking photos, not the first and alas not the last, have circulated around the world so much that they have shocked not only tourists but also - and finally - the Thai authorities, who are now asking vacationers not to support trainers (called mahouts). ).
"Please don't ride the elephants and don't support this activity."
It is the warning that we too repeat once again and remember: elephants never forget and, if even a companion swears that they treat elephants in a "responsible" way, do not trust them in any way, it is not possible!
The process used to train them is always the same, even if they seem to be treated with "kindness" and, usually, there is not even a way to be sure what happens when we tourists go home.
