A man, visibly drunk, broke into a protected area where crocodiles live, verbally and kicked them
He is about to end up run over, his mother saves himA drunk man has seen fit to attack a group of crocodiles, kicking them and demanding their "respect", calling himself the "king" of poor animals. The sad episode happened at the viewpoint of the Laguna del Carpintero, located a few blocks from the center of Tampico (Mexico). The area is known for being the “home” of numerous crocodile specimens.
With an extremely reckless and risky gesture, both for him and for the animals, the man entered the area, protected by a fence, and kicked the crocodiles, teasing their violent reaction: two of the crocodiles involved, in fact, threatened to bite the attacker's leg. Images and videos of the episode were shared online and made the rounds of social media in a few hours.
The vile assailant was not alone. There were other people next to him who instructed him not to overdo it and not to attack animals, as they could become aggressive towards him. The man replies to them to rest assured: the crocodiles respect him since he is their king, and for this reason they will not attack him.
These statements were then addressed to the crocodiles and repeated several times within the protective enclosure. The man continued to inveigh against four crocodiles (all adult specimens, over two meters in length) and to reiterate that he is the "king of crocodiles", demanding respect and submission from the latter.
Around 90 crocodiles currently live in the Carpintero lagoon, all belonging to the Morelet species (Crocodylus moreletii), which is considered a protected species. According to local archives, four crocodile attacks have occurred since 1901, causing casualties among residents or visitors.
It was fortunate that the drunken assailant made it out of the fenced area alive - the incident could have turned into tragedy. Here are the images of his delusion, shared by a local newspaper:
