Why are foxes attacking the citizens of Bangladesh?

Foxes are becoming increasingly aggressive and often attack men, women and children in villages in Bangladesh

Most volpi living in the territories of Bangladesh they are small in size and are generally harmless and not aggressive at all. In recent months, however, they have been reported several assaults to the population by these animals.

The last episode dates back to last Saturday, when twenty-two people were injured in Tajpur village, in the west of the country. Two foxes suddenly entered the town, broke into a house and injured a child. They then fled between the houses, biting everyone they met, including a baby just six days old. Similar cases also occurred in the previous weeks, during which admissions to the hospital to treat fox bites were over a hundred in different areas of the country.

Foxes, however, are not ferocious and normally do not approach humans, therefore why they are terrorizing the population?

According to Professor Anwarul Islam, chairman of the zoology department of Dhaka University, foxes have started roaming in population centers in the evening and at night because they do not find enough food in their habitat.

La deforestation is significantly depleting the environment in which foxes live and this is causing a significant decrease in numbers in Bangladesh. Their purpose is to look for chickens or other farm animals to hunt and have no interest in humans, but individuals who have contracted rabies may have unusual behavior.

React as if they have the blame and responsibility for it, beating and killing them is not the solution.

“If there was a suitable environment for foxes to survive, they wouldn't come to the villages, because they don't hunt humans. Foxes are very important for maintaining balance and biodiversity in the environment ".

As often happens, when a normally harmless animal attacks humans, the responsibility belongs to man which has destroyed the environment and put other living beings in difficulty.
