The ships of Sea Shepherd are preparing to stop whaling in the Southern Ocean with theOperation Nemesis. Japanese whalers do not want to heed the international rulings on the stop whaling.>

Sea Shepherd has at its disposal new ships built with funds from the Dutch, Swedish and British lotteries. The organization is ready to obstruct the Japanese whalers to say a stop to the massacre that is repeated every year.

Two Sea Shepherd ships have already sailed south from Australia to face the Japanese whaling fleet, activists said. Ships are headed for Antarctic waters.

According to Japanese officials, Sea Shepherd's actions are nothing more than sabotage of whaling. which threaten the life of the Japanese crew members and which cannot be tolerated. Therefore, the Japanese whalers will not give in easily.

Japan has already thought of lawsuits to stop anti-whaling campaigns claiming that the activists harass the crew of the whalers. Nobody seems to think that the whales are really in danger already at risk of extinction and that their hunting is a 'traditional' activity that must stop.

In any case, Sea Shepherd does not want to give up and is preparing to embark on the 11th campaign to stop whaling. From 18 November the Japanese whalers are ready to start the slaughter again without complying with the worldwide moratorium on commercial whaling and an international court ruling.

According to Sea Shepherd, it is high time Japan respected international decisions and put an end to whaling. Japan is exploiting a 'loophole' that allows whaling for scientific purposes even though everyone knows that the real purpose is commercial. In fact, whale meat still arrives on Japanese tables and is served in school canteens.

Whaling does not stop even in front of theUN that already in 2014 it found that the activity is not really carried out for scientific purposes and that the permits issued to Japan do not have a research objective. Japan temporarily canceled whaling between 2014 and 2015 but then resumed operations.

Time Sea Shepherd will fight directly in the ocean. Last year Japanese whalers harpooned 333 whales, of which 103 were male and 230 female (90% of them were pregnant). It is therefore easy to understand why whales are at risk of extinction.

Whaling must be abandoned and Japan should give it up as soon as possible.
