Vivisection: activists occupy the Department of Pharmacology and free hundreds of animals

“Breaking down the wall of silence”. This is the slogan with which on Saturday 20 April some activists of the Green Hill Stop Coordination have occupied a vivisection laboratory for the first time. These are the enclosures of the laboratory of the Department of Pharmacology, in via Vanvitelli 32 in Milan, which occupy an entire floor of the building and where for years thousands of animals have been subjected to experiments, closed in their small cages, in their life reduced to a number.

“Breaking down the wall of silence”. This is the slogan with which some activists of the Coordination Stop Green Hill have occupied for the first time a vivisection laboratory. These are the laboratory enclosures of the Department of Pharmacology, in via Vanvitelli 32 in Milan, which occupy an entire floor of the building and where for years thousands of animals are subjected to experiments, closed in their small cages, in their life reduced to a number.

On the same day, in the afternoon, after the rumor on social networks, a demonstration of support followed with many participants, despite the poor weather. Meanwhile, inside, barricaded to last a long time, ready to stay there for several days if necessary and "hallucinated" by the neck at the door, the activists carried out negotiations to save the animals. They opened the cages, messed up labels and documentation, so that the animals became "useless" for the experiments.

“The doors of the enclosure are 'secured' so that activists can stay close to the animals and document the ignoble activity of this laboratory. The occupation continues, until even the last animal is released ”, wrote the Coordination on his facebook page.

In the end they made it: they came out carrying hundreds of mice and dozens of rabbits to safety. “We are documenting the passage of hundreds of animals to a new life outside the closed rooms and without natural light, outside the tiny cages of the laboratories. Their curiosity in front of the light, the new stimuli, the new environment it is beautiful and fills us with emotions ". Sure, the 5 activists have been identified by the police, but the animals are finally free. Like the little "naked mouse" in the opening photo along with other whites, blacks and browns. Now they are looking for a new home and a "first" life: all rodents will be entrusted with the help of the Vitadacani Onlus association. Who can give a house or a stall in the Milan area for these mice, call 339-2144345 or write to adozionicontrogreenhill@gmail.com
