They both have a sad story behind them, but from the moment they met their existence has changed and they now look like a couple of best friends.
The two have lived for a few years at Juliana’s Animal Sanctuary, the first sanctuary in Colombia where animals rescued from farms are welcomed. And it is precisely here that the meeting between Sri Ram and Bernie took place. When he arrived at the sanctuary, the little dog was only 5 months old and had been abandoned with his little brothers in the woods. Bernie, on the other hand, was destined for slaughter when she was only 3 months old, but luckily she was saved by Juliana, who runs the animal shelter along with two other volunteers.
The head of the sanctuary immediately noticed the special bond between the two and for her it was a real surprise. Between them it was friendship at first sight and still today they love spending time together.

They play together, they love to cuddle each other and Juliana often finds them dozing next to each other. Bernie and Sri Ram also spend their days with the other animals of the facility, which are currently around 140. Juliana and her team have been carrying out this mission for 15 years and have since saved over 700 specimens including pigs, chickens, cows, horses and goats. Several cats and dogs also live at the sanctuary.
Today is my last year in my 30's, today I am 39 years old, more than half of them dedicated to fighting for the freedom…

Spiritual equality for all beings is a concept we learned from St. Francis of Assisi, who taught that all animals are our brothers and sisters. With this understanding, we do not discriminate on the basis of labels that differentiate a pet from a slaughter animal. For us, all animals are a family. "
