Small but very strong. They thought they were exterminated by the fires that hit Australia but they managed to do it

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

Small but strong, capable of withstanding even the terrifying flames that have killed billions of animals in Australia. These tiny opossums are a real miracle: they survived the fires and until now were thought to be lost forever.

With their funny faces, they moved the volunteers of the Kangaroo Island Land for Wildlife, the Australian biodiversity conservation program, who found and photographed them, incredulous to have these tiny little creatures in front of their eyes.

In fact, the fires that hit Australia during the first months of 2020 were thought to have exterminated the entire population of pygmy possums, the smallest in the world. But luckily they made it. The little Australian possums are slender and minute creatures, weighing seven grams and the size of country mice; their characteristics make them fragile animals and particularly exposed to natural dangers, predators, but above all environmental disasters.

After the numerous fires that in recent times have destroyed large areas of their natural habitat, their survival has been questioned. But to the great surprise some specimens were found safe and sound by the volunteers.

The images of the finding of the little creatures were shared by the organization's social page and captured the attention and aroused the tenderness of social media users.

    Here they are:
