To give the news is the Venetian Messenger who reports a declaration of the forest of Villa Santina:

"The beast had fractured hind legs and spine and didn't make it."

Unfortunately it is not a story with a happy ending, that of the wounded roe deer found next to the guardrail along the Carnia road, in the road that leads from Val Pesarina to Prato Carnico in Veneto, by a snowplow. Here's how things went.

Stefano De Conti it is a snowplow that cleans the streets with a white coat every night, but on 6 March during his tour he had met a small wounded roe deer. At the side of the road the man had noticed a dark spot.

The roe had probably slipped off one holes injuring himself in the impact with the ground and the man did not feel like leaving it in the cold. It is not uncommon to find injured wild animals in the area, but it is not always possible to approach them.
Stefano, while waiting for the forest of Villa Santina and the veterinarian, had kept the roe warm, putting it on the truck. The animal felt so safe that it even let itself be caressed:

Unfortunately, however, despite the timely intervention of the Villa Santina forestry and the veterinarian, the roe deer did not make it because of the fractures: they are fragile animals which are unlikely to overcome this type of accident.
