He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

Two years ago, we shared in the pain of a mother orca who could not tear herself away from her stillborn pup and carried him tortured for miles. Today Tahlequah or J35 is pregnant again.
Those images shot with a drone by the researchers, had entered the hearts of all of us. A desperate mother who for 17 days had cradled her dead puppy for a thousand miles (1.600 kilometers). At the time, a campaign was also born to “adopt it” by supporting the associations and research centers that protect it

But now, the good news arrives. Just in these days, the researchers of the SR3 team have identified the orca, noting precisely the state of pregnancy.

Scarlet, the desperate rescue of the undernourished young orca is underway

In 2018, Tahlequah didn't want to leave her little one and had her off the coast of Canada. As we know, killer whales live in a sort of extended family, consisting of the female, her young, sterile older females and an adult male. This is a basic family also called pod.

Here's what happened in 2018:

All the members of this family communicate with each other through sounds of various kinds and each pod has its own language. The orca has a specific organ placed on its forehead that it can use as a sonar. It is therefore not difficult for researchers to identify the various specimens. The team has been studying their reproductive process for some time to monitor the species. There are, in fact, many unfulfilled pregnancies, this is mainly due to the scarcity of food, namely salmon, which suffer from habitat loss and intensive fishing.

As such, the fact that J35 is pregnant again is good news. The team also shared a photo of another L72 pregnant orca. Aerial images of both killer whales show their body sizes in September, when several months had passed since their pregnancies, and most recently in July, with a greater width to half of the body, revealing that they are in their final stages. And this time, we look forward to seeing these moms swimming with their babies.
