Unfortunately, he made himself famous for killing the lion Cecil, but Walter Palmer did something else. In recent days, news has come that last year, the trophy hunter, an American dentist, had gone to Mongolia to kill another protected species, the wild ram, Altai argali (Ovis ammon ammon).

According to the IUCN it is an almost threatened species but at a regional level it is considered endangered. For this, such animals are legally protected by the Mongolian fauna laws and their hunt is prohibited. Apparently it is not for Palmer who after killing poor Cecil nearly four years ago, going virtually unpunished, returned to the old macabre pastime and pounced on the largest wild ram in the world.

In an image posted on social media only recently, Palmer was immortalized next to the dead animal. The hunter would also have shelled out about 90 thousand euros to conquer the precious booty:

"This ram is an endangered species, so the idea that these animals can be killed for pleasure is repulsive," said Dr Teresa, Humane Society International vice president for wildlife.

According to the New York Post, during his trip to Mongolia, Palmer and his friend Brent Sinclair would have climbed the hills of Mongolia and approached the animals. A year after the trip, Sinclair shared a Facebook post in which he said:

“Another great adventure has come and gone, the one that will surely be included in the scrapbook. I just got back from Mongolia, and it's almost like it was a dream ”.

But his hunting companions posted the photo of the dead ram being careful to cut out Palmer's face in an attempt to protect the dentist.

The post on Facebook was probably removed or deleted by the same author but now the photo is circulating on the web, causing general outrage.

What makes people angry is the fact that man has returned to kill animals that have a single fault, that of finding him on their path.
