The horse forced to drink champagne after winning a race as the spectators cheer

A horse, who had recently won a race, was forced to drink a bottle of champagne by a man who had already been reported to the authorities

Violence and animal abuse can take different and sometimes unexpected forms. From Spain comes the video of a horse being made to drink champagne after he wins a race.

The event took place on Monday 12 October after the “Gran Premi de Manacor”, a prestigious race that takes place on the Spanish island of Mallorca. As you can see from the following video, shared by Assaib, animal rights association of the Balearics, a man forces a horse to drink a bottle of champagne.

The horse in question is called Helen Llinartix and is held by the reins while forced to drink alcohol. He makes some attempts to pull off his snout but the unscrupulous man, who enjoys making him "celebrate" in this way, continues to pour the sparkling wine on his head too.

Finally kiss the horse on the nose while in the background some spectators can be heard cheering and applauding him.

Assaib said that the man in the video, Miquel Mestre Suñer, has already been sanctioned at European level for doping several competition horses and that:

“He was also forbidden to go near the horses. We have already filed a formal complaint with the competent authorities for animal abuse. (…) We consider this clear example of animal abuse frightening and once again it proves that this person does not respect animals or the law ”.

The man, in an attempt to defend himself, claimed that the horse was actually given a mixture of electrolytes and amino acids and not alcohol, despite the fact that the bottle was visibly that of a champagne.

The Equestrian Sports Institute of Mallorca has confirmed that an investigation has been launched which will be reported to the Nature Protection Service, a unit of the Spanish Civil Guard.
