A real massacre: there are kangaroos, koalas, sheep, all victims of the flames that since last September have already sucked up 4 million hectares of land, killing mammals, birds and reptiles. The first to pay the consequences are the koalas, according to the first estimates, they would be 8 thousand charred ones.

“A very serious news - said the WWF - given that in the whole region, before the fires started, there were only about 28 thousand koalas. Most of the koalas on the Australian east coast, in fact, live within the 'Koala Triangle', a region where the species could become extinct in just 30 years ".

A scenario that could become even more impressive considering that, across Australia, around 200 fires are still going on and temperatures do not bring good news: 40 degrees are expected in New South Wales next week.

Since last September 24 people have died and over a thousand houses have been burned; according to the University of Sydney they are already dead 480 million animals and for the WWF many species are at risk also due to the fire that has broken out in the natural reserves of the Blue Mountains.

Due to climate change, the WWF says "the attacks will become even more frequent and it is feared that entire animal and plant species endemic to Australia may be lost forever".

In the past few days, we had shown you the video of dozens of kangaroos fleeing the flames: The group was filmed running across the prairies near the village of Bredbo, desperate to find shelter.

"Another casket of nature devoured by flames that no one will be able to see as before".

Without forgetting that possums, wallabies, wombats, platypuses and echidnas also flee from the flames. A massacre resulting from climate change and the hand of man on uncontaminated nature.

Meanwhile, Australian authorities have arrested over 180 people for setting forest fires, most notably 29 fires were deliberately caused in the Shoalhaven region of southeastern New South Wales in just three months.
