    Relax, blissful, enjoy the sun of this late autumn in the sea. We are in the charming little port of Santo Spirito, north of Bari. It would be wonderful if this group of ducks did not find themselves surrounded by all sorts of waste. It is plastic that dominates, stealing the show from the sea: glasses, caps, butts, bags, fragments of nets.





    There is something for everyone and it hurts the heart. The images come from one of the most beautiful corners of Puglia, in the Bari area. Here a photographer Onofrio Pinto took pictures that make you think. Photos that are rightly circulating in these hours in various local Facebook groups, where the indigestion took place.

    The ducks stand still, probably unaware that they are swimming in a sea of ​​garbage. The danger, however, is that they can eat fragments of it, even risking being suffocated.

    “Looking at this sad photo (taken by Onofrio Pinto) I realize that what we do is a drop in the ocean. The tons of plastic removed in these two years are a microscopic percentage of what ends up in the sea, and that the latter promptly returns to us. But this must not make us lose our hopes and the desire to keep our little corner of paradise decent ”wrote in a heartfelt post Roberto Tatoli of the VogliAMO Santo Spirito Pulita Association.

    That stretch of coast is very popular with ducks but also with little egrets:

    "We have built a wonderful group for this too, not to surrender to plastic, to give this wonderful village the beauty it has deserved for decades and it will not be 100 meters of shoreline to stop the blue tank that has set in motion" he continues. "Nobody wants to see a scenario like this, I expect many, many volunteers at the next clean up" is her appeal.
