A cat and a fox eat together sharing the same dish. The shot that went viral.
Snout and snout in the same bowl, in defiance of every cliché: the photo of a cat and a fox feasting together as if they were eternal food companions has become viral. The story comes from Laglio, a small town in the province of Como, where Mario Gigliotti already a few months ago began to host a wonderful fox in his garden.
A picture of Collodi memory that was repeated every evening for at least 6 months, during which Mr. Gigliotti constantly received a visit from the fox, ready to feast on pasta, apples, pears and asparagus. And not alone.
“In the garden there are our cats and while the male was imperturbable and saw the fox pass without even getting up to meet her, the female was more territorial. She wanted to see what I fed her. She did not accept that the fox was given something that was forbidden to her, so she even went so far as to eat asparagus in her turn ”, Gigliotti says.
A bit of initial distrust, but then the fox became more and more enterprising until she got caressed and took the food directly from Mario's hands or from the same bowl of his cats.
“He would arrive at the same time every day for dinner and if we weren't at home, he would wait for us on the doormat. She saw us coming and recognized us ”.
Only a few weeks ago, the visits of the fox became rarer and eventually stopped: “The last times she came she seemed to have a problem with her hind leg that made her limp - says Mario Gigliotti. I was trying to figure out how to get her to take her to the vet when she stopped showing up. In the village she had become a little star, everyone knew that she passed by here in the evening and everyone loved her ".
However, it remains a beautiful story of sharing! And let's hope the fox is fine!
