The brown bear finally returns to Galicia, Spain: specimen sighted after 150 years

After 150 years, a specimen of brown bear has been spotted in the woods of Galicia, Spain. The video that shows his days and nights

After 150 years, a specimen of brown bear has been spotted in the central massif of Orense, in Spain. In fact, for over a century in Galicia it has been difficult to come across these magnificent creatures.

In Galicia, a film was being recorded in the heart of the woods when cameras spotted a male specimen in the O Invernadeiro Natural Park.

A discovery that left you speechless given that no brown bear had been sighted in those areas for some time. In particular, the animal was noticed in the central massif of Orense and is the first documented in this area in 150 years. The images, which are already making the rounds of the web, were made by the cameras of the film “Montaña ou Morte”, which Zeitun Films production broadcast in various areas for two years in order to remotely record the movements of wildlife.

According to Zeitun Films, the presence of the bear has been noted in various areas, inaccessible to humans. The films depicting this splendid creature, which in Galicia seemed to have disappeared by now, will be part of the film, directed by Pela del Álamo and produced by Felipe Lage.

The same manufacturer posted the bear video on YouTube. The unsuspecting "actor" is a brown bear between the ages of 3 and 5 and according to Zeitun Films,

"It is the first to be filmed in the area and probably also the bear to cross this region in the last 150 years".

The park's environmental agents confirm that the animal spent the winter safely in the area. According to local authorities, the presence of the bear in the Massif Central is great news, so action must be taken to protect and monitor the species.

    Here it is in action:

“After years of work, the conservation of the O Invernadeiro protected area has allowed the brown bear to find a suitable habitat. The first hypotheses suggest that this individual comes from the western area, probably from O Courel. The appearance of this specimen south of the central massif is relevant as it would confirm the good evolution of the populations in the O Courel area and those recently detected in the O Barco de Valdeorras area ", reads the official note.

The brown bear has been a protected species in Spain since 1973 and in Galicia it has maintained a historical presence, albeit intermittent, in the Lugo area.
