The number is 492 and has been carrying it with him for over ten years, when the zoo park staff had registered it to make it an attraction. But the flamingo, whose sex is unknown, not only managed to escape, but flew over a thousand kilometers.
At the time, all attempts had been made to bring him back, but the flamingo had avoided all traps and had lost track of him. Over time, it has become a real obsession for birdwatchers from all over America, which is why a few days ago, the news of his sighting caused quite a stir.
The flamingo from Sedgwick County in Wichita, Kansas arrived in the state of Texas and it was there that it was identified thanks to the tag by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department employees. He was born in Tanzania and then moved to the zoo along with 38 other specimens with the aim of creating a African zoo in America. An idea that did not really like the animal that together with another flamingo with the number 347 had escaped.
Knowing him alive is a great joy, but we hope that the sighting does not mean a new capture for him and that he will be released where he has decided to make a new life.
