It took the 25-year-old a whopping 40 minutes to get ready and apply the dog's fake nails. “Coco is my puppy and one night my husband and I were talking and we thought it would be so nice to give her little fake nails,” said the young Californian. “I did it just for fun. She loves to be pampered, so she really likes the moment when I put my nails on her claws ”.
To many people, however, it seemed like a real torture for the poor dog, who would have had difficulty walking with those very long and uncomfortable nails. "Coco will only wear them for photos because obviously they are not practical for a dog to wear all the time" justified Maritza Rubalcava. "It's just a way to spend time with my dog and bond more."
It is not the first time that the nail technician has created fake nail sets for Coco. “Many people love the idea, but others don't,” she says. “Some have been shocked at what I've done, but it's just for fun. I would never have done anything to harm Coco. "
Maritza adopted the dog, who is now 5 years old, after the little girl was abandoned in a box outside her mother's shop. After the success achieved on social media, the woman decided to launch a collection of fake nails for dogs.
“I've always loved animals and decided to donate a portion of the sales to an animal rescue organization, as a tribute to Coco,” he explains.
Certainly a noble purpose, but is there really a need to subject dogs to these aesthetic tortures? It seems crazy to us.
