The Decree, issued in conjunction with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Agriculture, provides for the refusal of the concession of the license of zoological garden to the Dolphinarium of Rimini, and consequently sanctions its closure. The Ministry of the Environment therefore did not consider the Rimini Dolphinarium suitable for granting the zoo license, pursuant to Legislative Decree 73/2005.
Despite not having never obtained this essential license, the Rimini dolphinarium remained open to the public for almost a decade offering shows with dolphins, up to the preventive seizure of the animals and their transfer to the Genoa aquarium, which took place in September 2013, and subsequently ordered by the Rimini Public Prosecutor's Office the inspection of the agents of the Cites service of the State Forestry Corps which took place on 31 July 2013, resulting from numerous reports from LAV and other associations.
