Removing the teeth of dolphins to let tourists swim with them: the horror that no one wants to tell you

Dolphins have their teeth pulled out to prevent them from hurting the tourists who swim with them. And so, while visitors are enjoying themselves, wild animals raised in captivity continue to be tortured.

Dolphins have their teeth pulled out to prevent them from hurting the tourists who swim with them. And so, while visitors are enjoying themselves, wild animals raised in captivity continue to be tortured.

Many cases of mistreatment reported by the World Animal Protection UK (WAP) association which in a report shows the other side of Indonesian tourism.

There are resorts and attractions that allow you to swim among dolphins, to caress tigers, elephants, orangutans and many other animals, you can find them in Bali, Gili Trawangan and Lombok, real paradises once unspoiled, but now literally transformed.

What does this mean? That to encourage tourism, animals are kept in tiny cages, often chained and available to visitors who can take pictures and caress them. The non-profit association has visited 26 of these structures and declares that dolphins, orangutans, tigers, elephants do not have veterinary care and adequate nutrition. The 26 structures are home to 1500 wild animals and the picture is truly gruesome.

A tragedy

According to the report, 100% of places with animals in captivity do not respect their welfare.

“It is a real tragedy. Bali is a wonderful destination for tourists, but the way the animals are treated makes it grotesque and terrifying. Behind a paradise on earth, its tourism-based economy leverages its wildlife heritage. Today we have the goal of discouraging tourists to go to places like this "said the WAP administrator, Steve McIvor.

What can you do

“If you can ride, hug or take a selfie with wild animals, then this is an act of cruelty. Don't do it, no matter how many likes you get on social media.

We are encouraging tourists to boycott the travel companies that promote and support these cruel places. Travel companies have a responsibility to urgently review their Bali offers to make sure they are not supporting these terrifying structures.

To protect wild animals, we convinced nearly 200 travel companies to stop offering elephant rides and wild animal shows. "

What you can do is choose not to visit these horror structures, the only way to prevent the animals from continuing to be tortured.
