In the bay of the Dunes of Porto Cesareo, in the province of Lecce in the heart of the protected marine area, 79 baby turtles have come to light.
The eggs hatched suddenly, on a sunny September afternoon, giving bathers a few moments of pure emotion: in the bay of the Dunes of Porto Cesareo, in the province of Lecce and in the heart of the protected marine area, 79 baby turtles came to the light. Only at the end of July, again in Puglia, a nest with 109 eggs had been discovered in Torre San Giovanni.
In fact, this year, probably also due to the lower presence of people due to the lockdown, the turtles have really nested in many places. For the first time it happened in Ostuni, just as in recent days in Rosa Marina 50 specimens of Caretta Caretta were born.

And so this last weekend in Porto Cesareo, on a crowded stretch of beach and after 62 days, the miracle of nature gave 79 Caretta caretta baby turtles in just a few minutes, which emerged from the sand and reached the sea on a carpet of specially made sand.
