A whale suddenly it emerges from the surface of the sea, showing its size a stone's throw, or rather two strokes, from a fishing boat. A show immortalized by a lucky photographer who managed to film the scene.
It happened a few days ago in the waters of California, in Monterey Bay. The video was shot by Douglas Craft and shows the huge humpback whale making its spectacular appearance in the ocean waves next to a boat. Probably, the fisherman on board did not even notice his presence and the exhibition.
From his point of view, Craft has managed to seize the moment. The photographer said that the creature was really huge and that, instead of the fisherman, he would have been really scared given the close range.
The bay is home to many species of marine mammals and is found in the migration path of gray whales and humpback whales. A very popular place for whale watching.
Douglas Craft, after witnessing the first jump, moved to another boat to photograph the whale even more closely.
“It was fun to shoot this video. The whale had appeared near the fisherman on other occasions. But sometimes, when they break the waves several times, they also move in a specific direction " he told.
Adult humpback whales weigh around 28-33 tons and their length ranges from 12 to 16 meters. Real marine giants.
