Unfortunately every year during the summer the sea animals they are targeted by adults and children, who take them out of the water for take a selfie or play with it on the beach.
Perhaps not everyone knows that these behaviors almost always result in the death of these small animals.
To some species of starfishfor example, it only takes a few seconds out of the water to die. In fact, exposure to air causes several species of starfish embolisms with lethal consequences for animals.
The starfish removed from the water can die of embolism even after days and even if they are released back into the sea.
Unfortunately not everyone knows: a starfish takes a few seconds out of the water to cause an embolism .......

In addition to the beautiful starfish, often children steal from the sea small fish, crabs, curly jellyfish, seahorses and others animals present in the water, collecting them with nets and buckets.
It is a cruel game, where children are encouraged or even helped by their parents, e which costs the lives of these small animals.
Le vital functions some marine animals come in fact severely compromised after spending several minutes or even hours out of the water.
The water inside the buckets reaches very high temperatures and loses oxygen, causing the death of animals after a slow agony. A real torture which causes the death of the captured specimens even if at the end of the game they are released back into the sea.
It is important to educate children and sensitize adults to respect nature and living beings. Marine animals can be observed in their habitat without disturbing them and without causing damage to them.
Capturing starfish, crabs and minnows to observe or play with is one illegal conduct as well as immoral and ecosystem-damaging behavior.
As stated in article 544 of the Criminal Code:
Anyone, out of cruelty or without necessity, causes an injury to an animal or subjects it to torture or behavior or fatigue or work that is unbearable due to its ethological characteristics is punished with imprisonment three to eighteen months or with a fine of between 5.000 and 30.000 euros
So let's leave these poor animals in peace if not for common sense at least to avoid the risk of incurring heavy fines.
