London Zoo staff decided to spruce up the tiger enclosure with Christmas decorations. The scene is of infinite sadness
What's sadder than seeing animals locked up in a zoo? Observe them as they move around their enclosure, embellished with Christmas decorations. To some it may sound strange, but that is exactly what is happening these days at ZSL London Zoo, where the staff decided to let two in tigers in the Christmas mood (to attract even a greater number of visitors), decorating their enclosure with colored sticks and Santa's bags scented with aromas such as ginger and cinnamon.
Just like house cats, both Asim and Gaysha love to seek and roll around in strong scents - commented tiger keeper Kate Clark - so for Christmas this year we created for them a forest of scented candy canes with giant wooden canes and Recycled jute “Santa's bags”, scented with natural seasonal aromas such as ginger, nutmeg and cinnamon.
But, apparently, one of the two specimens did not like the novelty (how to blame him ?!). In the video, posted on the zoo's social channels, Gaysha is seen tearing the decorations with her claws. And the zoo staff jokes about it, paragonandola al Grinch:
“Gaysha didn't take long to reach out and break down all of our hard work, she's this year's Christmas Grinch, for sure! Fortunately, Asim still had a lot of fun smelling every bag of Santa Claus, before rubbing himself with his favorite festive spices ”.
In short, the poor tiger is even blamed for not having appreciated the fruit of the hard work of the zoo staff. But does anyone really think that this can be considered a gift from the tigers? Although colorful and embellished, the zoo remains a prison. Other than the Christmas spirit! To us witnessing these scenes causes only an infinite anguish ...
