New arrest order for the bear Gaia. She risks being locked up forever in the Casteller compound

The bear, accused of attacking two men, will have to be locked up for life in the Casteller pen, where two other bears are already imprisoned

He is about to end up run over, his mother saves him

There is no peace for Gaia-JJ4. The bear, accused of attacking two men, will have to be locked up for life in the Casteller pen, where two other bears, DJ53 and M57, are already imprisoned. The story of this mother bear becomes more and more sad and intricate.

Unfortunately, according to what Lav has just announced, the President of the Province of Trento opposed the decision of the Trentino TAR, which at the request of Lav itself had suspended the order in the part in which it provided for the killing of the bear. Killing ordered by Trentino:

Orsa JJ4-Gaia is safe (at least for now). Accepted the appeal to the TAR of the associations, Costa writes to the Advocacy?

The animal seems to be safe but the Autonomous Province of Trento has responded with a new ordinance, issued on 11 August but of which the LAV has only become aware, which requires not only the capture of JJ4 / Gaia but also the imprisonment of life in the Casteller enclosure.

"The new ordinance is based on an instrumental interpretation, by Fugatti, of the Technical Report of the Trentino Forestry Corps, directed by the same Province, and ignores all the strong evidence that indicates the need for further investigations and in-depth studies to define whether the bear is really dangerous or not, and that would spare them the application of maximum gravity in the Pacobace scale ”explains Lav.

According to the Forestry report, in fact, it seems that the bear became aware of the presence of the two men, who left the path only at the last moment, when they came out behind a bump. Furthermore, according to the report, one and two men were holding a hacksaw, later found by the Foresters on the ground with the blade broken in two and with bear hair on it. Such elements would suggest a situation

"In which the reactions of the two people may have greatly contributed to transforming a false attack into a real attack" continues the LAV. "We will continue to ask for clarity on what happened, and for further investigations to be initiated to verify whether the context in which the meeting took place, and the consequent actions carried out by the two people involved, were the real causes of what happened , thus exonerating the bear and its cubs ".

The story of JJ4

JJ4 had been accused of attacking two people on Mount Peller last June 22, but immediately the story appeared unclear. The story of a 59-year-old man and his 28-year-old son did not fully convince. The two men said they had searched the area. At some point they would have come across a bear that would have attacked them. According to subsequent reconstructions, the two men were at 1500 meters and the bear was Gaia, a mother ready to defend her cubs. A killing order had been issued on her, which was followed by a series of appeals.

Identified the bear that allegedly attacked two men in Trentino: risks being killed

And now comes the new chapter of this saga that seems endless and that once again condemns an animal, probably guilty of defending only its own children.
