But let's start from the beginning, as in any self-respecting story. On a warm May day, a 10-year-old goat named Mr. G arrives at the Rescue Ranch adoption center, in Animal Place, in California. She has always lived with a donkey on land owned by a woman who, however, can barely take care of herself, not to mention the dozens of dogs she has accumulated over the years.
Volunteers from the shelter can only save the goat, while another sanctuary offers to take care of the donkey worthily. The two were separated, but with a noble purpose: to save their lives. G.humans, however, have not yet understood the depth of their bond.
Alone and without his trusted companion, Mr. G. immediately refuses to eat, spending his days lying in a corner of the stable. He barely raises his head. The staff tries every delight - molasses, sweet wheat, apples - to get him back. There's nothing to do. Mr G doesn't want to know.
It is then thought that he may be ill. When health tests reveal the absence of any physical problem, the truth learns in all its disarming clarity: Mr G is in mourning and cannot accept that his friend Jellybean is gone forever. This is why he is inconsolable! What to do? We must fix it as soon as possible.
So, about a week after the transfer, spent all without eating, Mr G raises his head, sniffing the air ...
He smelled the inseparable Jellybean. That's when she realizes what's happening: his closest friend is back! She rushes out and finally sees him. The most magical moment? The one in which Mr. G resumes eating… from the Jellybean bowl!
It seems like a story worthy of a good storybook. But it all really happened. Let's tell our children!
