It's not often that you come across a Marsican bear during a walk, especially in the Marche. For this reason the meeting took place on Monti della Laga between a family of breeders and a Marsican brown bear aroused a lot of surprise.

The exciting sighting took place two mornings ago in the territory of Colle di Arquata del Tronto while Luigi Lauri, together with his brother Diego and his father Mario, was on his way to work.

The three were able to see the specimen from afar among the trees and promptly photographed it. The animal probably arrived in the Marche starting from the Gran Sasso, where the Marsican brown bear is present and, according to Diego, it is the first time that a specimen goes as far as the Monti della Laga.

“Meeting a bear in these parts had never happened before and had a certain effect. We could only photograph him from afar and with our cell phones, however it was a pleasant surprise ”, the man told ANSA.
